Frequently Asked Questions
Absolutely! Professional cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing services provide far greater protection against odour, infection, and illness-inducing bacteria (over a million living organisms in the average set of hockey equipment) than regular machine washing or bathtub stewing. Work and sport garments and gear are easily soaked by sweat and other bodily fluids, and if left untreated, can become a prime breeding ground for bacteria, moulds, fungus, viruses, allergens and pathogens, and other diseases.
In addition to foul malodour (“B.O.” or “Rink Stink”) caused from Bromhidrosis (a byproduct of the body’s natural bacteria when they feed on sweat and other bodily secretions), which can cause social embarrassment and discomfort to both wearer and others, if you or your family member happens to have a skin abrasion or cut which comes in contact with dirty work or sports gear, bacteria can enter the bloodstream and potentially cause serious infection and health issues, including: Staph infections, Strep, Norwalk virus, Allergic Reactions, Ringworm, Bacterial Infections, Pink Eye, Fever, and other severe illnesses and diseases.
Further, professional cleaning services can also aid greatly in the preservation of costly garments and gear from rotting and decay. Prolonging the life of your equipment will not only protect your healthy investment, but (in the case of parents with children in sport) allow for this gear to be passed down to younger siblings (or sold second hand) once your child has outgrown it.
Our Esporta-patented wet clean technology is superior to ineffective “hockey soup” contaminate-stewing tub soaking; to violent and often destructive agitative machine washing (which can damage your gear and washing machine), and to dangerous, toxically overrated ozone gas treatment (which is proven ineffective on damp equipment and unable to penetrate thick padding). Ozone gas is an air pollutant that will cause permanent health problems for people if inhaled. Equipment must be dry and all equipment is sprayed by hand following the ozone treatment. Ozone causes water (H2O) in damp equipment to convert into Hydrogen Peroxide (H202) which destroys cloth, threads, rubber, latex and plastics, and discolours equipment.
Our advanced weaponry system deploys a bio-degradable, phosphate free, non-hazardous, non-caustic, and hypo-allergenic four-stage deep clean detergent and disinfectant wet-wash process laboratory-proven to eradicate 99.9% of the moulds, fungus, bacteria, and pathogens spawned from the accumulation of dirt, grime, sweat, and even biohazardous infectious materials such as blood or body waste, collected during rigorous work and sport activity. And, for your ultimate peace of mind, using an ATP Tester, we can confirm the elimination of these harmful agents.
Most typical DIY methods do not work because the water cannot penetrate deep inside the pads and material and there needs to be the right combination of detergents and disinfectant to eliminate the bacteria and mold. The “bathtub soup” method just removes surface dirt, bleaching compromises the material and stitching and disinfectant sprays only treat the surface of the equipment.
YES!!!!! If we can fit it in our machine, we can wash it!!!
We wash all sports related equipment, lacrosse, ringette, football, baseball, softball, ski wear, snowboarding wear, rock climbing, hunting gear, Motor-cross, BMX, ATV and rodeo wear. We also clean work wear such as coveralls, uniforms, nomex coveralls, PPE equipment, ski suits, snowmobile suits, labourers workwear, and harnesses from industrial and mechanical sectors.
Give us a call and let’s discuss what you have to wash.
It depends on the individual. How often do you play, what sport, what age, how much you perspire, where the equipment is kept, is it hung to dry, how bad does it smell, how dirty is your environment, are you dealing with skin rashes and infections. All of these factors need to be taken into consideration. Give us a call and we can ascertain what would be a good option for cleaning regularly.
