Hi there! I’m Sue — founder, self-proclaimed clean-freak, and a little obsessed with ancient history. Beside me is my loyal sidekick, Willy (aka William the Conqueror). Together, we are the armor-polishing force behind Cloak & Shield, the Heartland’s sport and workwear laundry service, proudly based in Gibbons, Alberta, and serving Edmonton and surrounding areas.
Born and raised in England, I come from the land of Kings, Castles, and Conquests. My hometown was famously where William the Conqueror landed in 1066, shaping history — so when it came time to name our mascot and mission, “Willy” was the natural choice. He represents the daily battle we fight, not with swords and shields, but against the germs, bacteria, and grime hiding deep inside your gear.
As a mom to athletes and hard-working tradespeople, I know how frustrating it can be to find a cleaning solution that truly works — one that doesn’t just mask odors but eliminates them. That’s why I took matters into my own gloved hands. After researching and testing the best equipment, I launched Cloak & Shield to help families and teams across Alberta stay healthy, odor-free, and protected.
The name Cloak & Shield reflects both my heritage and the gear we wear into battle — whether on the ice, the field, or the job site. We’re here to serve, defend, and disinfect — one jersey, boot, and shoulder pad at a time.
