Ozone gas is an air pollutant that will cause permanent health problems for people if inhaled. Equipment must be dry and all equipment is sprayed by hand following the ozone treatment. Ozone causes water (H2O) in damp equipment to convert into Hydrogen Peroxide (H202) which destroys cloth, threads, rubber, latex and plastics, and discolours equipment.

Most typical DIY methods do not work because the water cannot penetrate deep inside the pads and material and there needs to be the right combination of detergents and disinfectant to eliminate the bacteria and mold. The Esporta safely washes all helmets with visors. You do not need to remove your visor on your helmet. The wash process is not agitated so this ensures your helmet does not get moved around and damaged.
It depends on the individual. How often do you play, what sport, what age, how much you perspire, where the equipment is kept, is it hung to dry, how bad does it smell, how dirty is your environment, are you dealing with skin rashes and infections.
